Good afternoon,
I am pleased to announce that the Department of Disabilities, Aging & Independent Living has hired Laura Siegel as the Director of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deaf Blind Services. Laura has an MBA in Healthcare Management and comes to us from the Vermont Center for Independent Living serving as the Deaf Independent Living Coordinator where she worked to advocate for changes in state laws and policies to improve equal access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. Laura has a long history working with the Vermont Association of the Deaf and as a member of the Vermont Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf Blind Advisory Council in addition to providing direct services through her work in a Designated Agency, the Perkins School for the Deaf and Blind and the Deaf Vermonters Advocacy Services. We are confident that Laura’s knowledge, skills and experience will allow her to “hit the ground running” as she collaborates with stakeholders to identify the systemic needs of Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf Blind Vermonters and create a path forward.
Please join me in welcoming Laura as she starts her new position March 28th.
